Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of wildlife will we see?
It is possible to see monkeys (howler), birds like Keel billed toucans, hummingbirds, parrots, Long tailed manakin, mot mots, woodpeckers, and tanagers, butterflies, insects and spiders during the guided nature walk in the day and the birdwatching tour.
For the night experience, it is possible to see owls, sleeping birds, insects like crickets, cicadas and walking sticks and frogs.
Who do you recommend to visit El Enigma de la Semilla Monteverde?
Anyone who is looking for an easy nature and birding experience, since the trails are very short. The reserve is also excellent for those with limited mobility, since they have the fully accessible trail.
We do not recommend this reserve for anyone who is looking for a long hike, as both trails together are only about 1.4 km long (.87 miles). This is why we recommend a guide tour, to make the most of your time and money.
Do the guides have spotting scopes?
Yes, the guides for all tours will have spotting scopes.
Is the reserve in the cloud forest?
Technically, it is in the transition forest, as it's not quite yet high enough in elevation to be categorized as tropical cloud forest. This mix of the rainforest and cloud forest, being the transition forest, allows for a great variety of flora and fauna.
