What Sets Up Apart From Other Costa Rica Blogs and Agencies
There are a lot of travel agents, agencies and blogs about Costa Rica and some of them have good information, some don’t.
But something most don’t have is the year round local perspective since they are all mostly written by foreigners who visited Costa Rica once in awhile, or some are here temporarily.
We live in Costa Rica year round and are constantly traveling around the country to update our content to bring you the latest information, as much as possible.
Something else we are proud to provide is premiere customer service when readers book their travel services through us. We respond to booking inquiries within 24 hours and are more than happy to help negotiate rates, provide on the ground assistance and offer our personal recommendations to our readers.
Mytanfeet is a registered Costa Rican travel consulting company based in Guanacaste. Mytanfeet LLC is registered with the State of Florida as a Seller of Travel, Registration NO. ST44660.

My wife and I just spent 5 weeks in Costa Rica and your blog has been a invaluable source of information to guide our visit.
The best part is that it’s from a local perpective, instead of all the flashy ads for expensive touristic activities.
Thank you so much, Samantha y Yeison

We were first time in Cost Rica and we spent beautiful 14 days (1.12 – 15.12.2025) there thanks to you, Mytanfeet, because I got many interesting and useful information before our journey. So we know in advance many things how to handle CR .
Just keep on going this way. Mytanfeet, you rocks!

Mytanfeet is absolutely fantastic! Ever since I first started using their car rental services about 4-5 years ago, I haven’t considered going anywhere else. Renting cars in Costa Rica used to be quite stressful and a dreaded experience, but Mytanfeet really knows how to make it smooth and enjoyable for its clients. My family and I truly appreciate the excellent service you provide.
Thank you very much! I also want to give a shoutout to Jefry and the Adobe team; they are extremely professional.
Keep up the amazing work!

Hello! I truly enjoy your articles and value the information you share with everyone! I was wondering if you have any updated information on public transportation in CR? The article here is from April 2020 and I feel like there may have been significant changes since then. If not, just let me know and I’ll shut up! Thank you for everything! Pura Vida!
Sammi says
Hi Debbie, some has changed but not terribly, a couple of bus companies now allow you to purchase bus tickets online on their website, and some of the inner city buses in San Jose and Central Valley have tap to pay.

Hi, Very excited to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in beautiful Costa Rica. We plan a visit to La Paz Waterfall & Garden Park, and booked the Poas Volcano Lodge for two nights. Would you suggest a car or just transfers and an excursion taxi fee for the park? Thank you.
Sammi says
Hi Alicia, I would suggest renting a car since La Paz park doesn’t itself offer any transportation, so if you got a transfer to the lodge, then you’d need to ask the lodge to call you a taxi and arrange for them to wait for you. That can be an option but the easiest and most flexible way to get around is to have your own vehicle.

Hi, my family and I just completed our first 2-week Costa Rica trip and it was a huge success in a large part by the information and help provided by mytanfeet.com. I happened upon the website in March will planning the trip. It really “demystified” Costa Rica and helped us settle on a general itinerary. Once on our trip, we would refer to mytanfeet for “local” suggestions on activities and other information. Also, after reading more closely the negative reviews by others on our big name company rental agency, before arriving in CR, we switched to Adobe as mytanfeet suggests and they have been 100% fantastic. We were treated very well and the rates were very reasonable.
Now at the conclusion of our trip, I wanted to say thank you for making all this information available, down to earth simple and really really honest.
Sammi says
Hello Charles, thank you so much for your comment and feedback, we’re glad the website was helpful for your trip planning and that you had a fun, stress free time time in Costa Rica which is our main goal. We are also happy you had a positive experience with Adobe!

Hello there.
I found your blog because I was looking for a Costa Rican rice recipe. I travel to Costa Rica about eight years ago and stayed in arenal and visited the town of La Fortuna. I love Costa Rica. Thank you so much for posting this Costa Rican rice recipe because I’ve made it several times and it’s absolutely delicious.
Ivana says
Hello, I am very glad that I found your blog. It is full of necassary information for us 🙂 I have a question. We plan to stay 5 days around El Arenal and make couple of tours. Do we need to rent a car? Yes, I know it is more comfortable, but 130 USD per day, if you want to drive 30 – 50km daily, is too expensive. How it is with taxi transport or Uber there? Thank you som much.
Sammi says
Hi Ivana, it really depends in this case if you want to drive or not because nearly all tours include roundtrip transportation and there are taxis everywhere. Some Ubers but not a ton. Having a car is way more comfortable and flexible but is not 100% necessary if you are in La Fortuna. But if you are staying in the neighborhood in the outskirts of Fortuna like Nuevo Arenal or El Castillo, you should get a car
Sam says
How do Taxis work? Do you flag them down on the street, New York City style, or are there taxi stands, like in some other countries? Do they have taxi meters, or do you negotiate a price as you get in, or are you just at the mercy of the taxi driver? Any other tips on taking taxis?
