For those who have a rental car, do not want to book a full tour, and would like a guide, this is the option for you: hire a guide in La Fortuna.
Enhance your time in La Fortuna and Arenal by hiring a private naturalist guide, which will make all the difference for your trip. Your certified naturalist guide will spot animals in their natural habitat, explain the importance of the rainforest ecosystem, and share interesting facts about the Arenal Volcano. All of which will be tailored to your places of interest, which is completely up to you as this is a private and custom service.
You can choose to hire a guide in La Fortuna for 4 hours or 8 hours and you get to choose the places! Popular places to visit with your guide in La Fortuna are Arenal Volcano National Park, Mirador El Silencio and Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges.
Please note that this option is only for those who have a rental car, as you will be required to pick up your guide from their office in downtown La Fortuna and drive with them to your chosen destinations.
Clients are also responsible for purchasing park tickets and any meals for the guide. After the guiding service, clients must drop off the guide back at the downtown La Fortuna office.

- Confirmation will be given upon tour booking, which must be prepaid in full to book.
- Maximum group size is 12 people. If your group is bigger than 12 people, we will find a second guide for the remainder of the group.
- Clients must purchase park tickets and meals and provide transportation to the guide.

Can the guide meet me at the location?
No. When you hire a guide in La Fortuna, you will pick them up in your rental car from the downtown La Fortuna office, drive to your chosen places with the guide and then after the guide service is complete, you will drop the guide off back at the downtown La Fortuna office.
Can I pick places outside of La Fortuna?
No. The hire a guide in La Fortuna service is only for places within La Fortuna and Arenal. For example, you cannot choose to bring them to Monteverde.
Can you suggest places to go with my guide?
Yes definitely! Just let us know what you are interested in and we will suggest the best places. The most popular places for the hire a guide service in La Fortuna are Arenal Volcano National Park and Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges.
Do we have to buy lunch for the guide?
Yes, if you book the full day service as it is 8 hours long. If you're not sure where to go for lunch, you can ask the guide if they have recommendations or check our Costa Rica restaurant map and zoom into the La Fortuna area. The guide can advise you on which ones can work depending on your location.
How do we buy park tickets for the guide?
If you go to Arenal Volcano National Park, park tickets are purchased at the door. If you go to Arenal Mistico Hanging Bridges park, you may purchase "self guided walk" tickets at the door.
