Arenal 1968 Volcano Trails and Nature Walks

Description

Arenal 1968 offers five ways to explore its volcanic trails, from a visit at your own pace to a walk with a naturalist guide, with entrance to the park included in each option.

Self guided entrance

Choose this option if you prefer to explore independently and spend time on the trails at your own pace, with entrance available from 7:30 AM until the last admission at 4 PM.

Shared natural history walk

Join a shared group with a naturalist guide who can help you learn about the surroundings as you walk the trails, with English or Spanish guiding and departures at 9 AM, noon or 2 PM.

Private natural history walk

Explore with a guide assigned to your party, with English, Spanish or French available by request and departures at 9 AM or 1 PM, subject to guide availability.

Birdwatching

Start at 6 AM for a birdwatching visit with a naturalist guide in English or Spanish, a separate option for travelers who would like to focus their visit on birds. Children under 6 cannot participate.

Night walk

Visit the trails after dark on a guided walk that starts at 6 PM, with flashlights provided and your requested guide language confirmed before booking. Children under 6 cannot participate.

What is included?

Before you go

Wear fully closed shoes and comfortable walking clothes, and bring rain protection and a reusable water bottle.

Drones, smoking, vaping, plastic bottles and coolers containing food are not allowed, and you should contact us before your visit about assistance animal requirements.

Request your visit at least 24 hours ahead and plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before a guided departure, with the minimum group requirement confirmed for solo requests.

If you need transportation, give us your hotel and pickup area so we can confirm availability, the price and the pickup time, including arrangements for early birdwatching or a night walk.

Children and infants count toward transport charges, and a different return location, a party larger than 10 or a hotel outside the listed areas needs an individual quote.
