Description
This tour is specifically for those who want to see the famous sloths of Costa Rica!
You’ll be taken to a private reserve of secondary rainforest just 10 minutes outside of downtown La Fortuna to walk through an easy and mostly flat trail to see sloths in the wild.
The total time at the ~2 km (1.25 mile) trail is approximately 1.5 hours since you will be walking at a slow pace while your guide looks up in the treetops for sloths and other animals. Your guide, equipped with binoculars and telescopes will do their best to find as many sloths as possible for the best sloth viewing experience.
In addition to seeing sloths, the guide will take you to a section of the trail that has a garden with medicinal plants and important crops of Costa Rica.
Sloths aren't the only animals you may see on the tour as tropical birds live amongst the same treetops. Keep your eyes out for toucans, tanagers and hummingbirds along the way.

The trail is a dirt path but is flat and well maintained.
Can I touch or feed the sloths?
No. In Costa Rica, it is illegal to touch wildlife. We do not permit any touching, hugging, holding or physical manipulations of the sloths. The purpose of this tour is to observe them in their natural habitat and learn why it is important to never physically manipulate wildlife.

Is it a guarantee to see sloths?
No, we cannot guarantee to see sloths since it is nature but we can give you a very very very high probability to see them! The guides will do their very best to find them and with the telescope, you will have even better chances to see them even if you can't see it well with your naked eye.
Can the guide take photos for me?
Yes, if you see any animals, the guide can take photos of them using your phone through the telescope.
Can you still see sloths if it's raining?
Yes, it is possible. Though the typical behavior of sloths in the rain is to curl up, it is still possible to see them and if it stops raining, sloths tend to wake up and start moving around to get dry and move position.
