Description
This half day tour goes to the Peninsula Sector of the Arenal Volcano National Park, where you will walk 1.2 kilometers (.7 miles) through the rainforest for viewpoints of the lake and to an observation tower that has a 180 degree view of the lake and Arenal Volcano.
After the walk, you’ll take a leisurely boat ride on Lake Arenal to see Arenal Volcano up close. Great tour for nature lovers and for those who want an easier hiking experience through the national park. Apt for those with physical limitations and/or wheelchairs.

How much walking is on this tour?
On this tour, you'll walk on a universal trail for less than 1 mile, and the trail is a well maintained path.
To go to the observation tower platform, you must go up around 10 steps.
What is the boat like?
It is a covered river boat with seats that has a back. The sides are open (no windows) to allow for a better viewing experience.
There isn't a dock, but you will not get wet while getting on the boat as the boats are docked directly on the sandy shore and there aren't high waves or currents. If you require assistance, the guide can help you.
What animals can I see?
During our experience, we saw Great Currasows, hummingbirds, coatis, agoutis and a family of Collared Peccaries. The wildlife you may also see are monkeys, iguanas, toucans and other birds.
I don't need transportation, can I meet the group at the national park?
Yes. You can drive to the national park lake entrance and meet the group there. We will advise you of the meeting time. There is no further additional discount if you do not take the transportation.
Can I use the national park ticket to visit the other sector on my own?
Yes. As the Arenal Volcano National Park ticket is included in the tour price and works as admission for both sectors, you may. Ask the guide for your ticket, as you will need the physical paper ticket to enter the other sector. Transportation to the other sector of the national park is not provided.
National park tickets are valid for only the day of purchase.
Is the boat ride safe?
Yes. The boat is operated by a certified captain on a boat that has all the permissions to navigate. Life jackets are for all ages are provided in the boat. Lake Arenal does not have any rapids or heavy currents.
Can I swim on this tour?
No, it is not possible to swim during this tour.
