Immerse yourself in the rain forest by walking the Arenal hanging bridges in a 600 acre (243 hectares) private reserve. Learn about the flora and fauna living within the pristine rainforest with a knowledgeable and friendly bilingual guide.
On this 2.5 hour guided walk, you’ll cross 6 hanging bridges and 9 fixed bridges with a maximum slope of 7 degrees to get beautiful views of the Arenal Volcano and surrounding rainforest. Total length of the trail is 1.9 miles (3.1 kilometers).
Also a great place to see animals like monkeys, snakes, frogs and birds. Moderate difficulty level, trails are fairly flat and is suitable for nearly all ages.

Does the walk include a lot of climbing or steps?
There is some elevation on the hike, around a 7 degree slope. There are not very many steps. It is a moderate level walk, all on completely concrete well maintained paths with handrails The total length of the trail is around 3.1 km (1.9 miles).
I am afraid of heights. Can I still do the walk?
To do the guided walk, you must cross the bridges, both hanging and fixed bridges. The highest bridge is 148 feet (45 meters).
There are emergency exits in a couple spots on the trail, but the guide cannot go back with you, as they cannot leave the rest of the group. If you wish to leave on your own, you will forfeit the rest of the tour and there will be no refund.
What shoes should I wear?
You have to wear completely closed shoes so tennis shoes, hiking shoes, walking shoes. No sandals of any kind.
If you wear shoes that are not completely closed, you will have to sign a waiver saying the park is not responsible for any damages or injuries from not wearing fully closed shoes.
Is the morning or afternoon tour better?
Morning is the most popular time to visit the park as it isn't as hot and sometimes there are more animals. In the rainy season, morning is generally the recommended time slot due to the weather.
Afternoon tends to be hotter but there are still possibilities to see animals. It is generally not as crowded in the afternoon versus morning. In the rainy season, it can rain more in the afternoon.
What animals can I see?
Animals commonly seen on the Arenal Hanging Bridges guided walk are howler monkeys, spider monkeys, eyelash pit vipers, owls, hummingbirds, jacamars, just to name a few.
Can I meet the group at the park? I have my own car and do not want transportation from the operator.
Yes, it is possible to meet the group directly at the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges if you do not require transportation. There will be no further discount if you do not take the transportation.
We will inform you of the meeting time and place. If you are late and do not meet the group on time, you will forfeit the tour and it will be a 100% penalty fee. The group cannot wait for you if you are late.
