Description
Enjoy an interesting and leisurely 2.5 hour walk through 6 hanging bridges and 10 fixed bridges to see the rainforest up close. With a maximum slope of 7 degrees and non-slip concrete trails, this guided walk is perfect as the first introduction to tropical rainforest.
Along the way, you will get stunning views of the Arenal Volcano and surrounding rainforest and your expert guide will point out various flora and fauna they spot.
After this walk in the rainforest, you'll be taken to the hot springs resort to melt away any remaining stress in the refreshing and natural pools and hot springs. Complete the day with a delicious lunch or dinner at the hot spring resort of your choice.
Ecotermales Hot Springs: Ecotermales has several relaxing hot spring pools of varying temperatures and lush gardens. Has two swim up bars and a couple small waterfalls. Great for couples and families looking for a more easy going and less crowded atmosphere.
Paradise Hot Springs: Paradise Hot Springs has 5 pool areas, 2 Jacuzzis with waterfalls and a swim up bar.
El Choyin Hot Springs: They have a pool and bathing areas in the natural river to enjoy both. Great option for a more secure and safe experience at the naturally hot Tabacon river.

What is the hanging bridges walk like?
The total trail length is around 3 km (1.9 miles) and has non-slip concrete paths, handrails and guardrails. There are 10 fixed bridges and 6 hanging bridges, to do the entire walk, you must cross all of them.
There is not many steps nor elevation change, about a 7 degree slope.
Is this tour recommended for seniors ?
Yes, as long as they are in good physical condition and able to walk moderate to long distances without assistance on different type of trails.
The pace is slow as the guide will be stopping to look for animals.
Which hot springs resort do you recommend?
It depends on many factors but you can read the descriptions above. One of the main differences regarding El Choyin is that they have a section for bathing in the natural Tabacon River.
All of them are suitable for families, couples, solo travelers and older guests.
How long do we stay at the hot springs?
This is up to you as the guide will let you choose what time you would like to get picked up and dropped off at your hotel. Most people stay the maximum amount of time, around 3 hours.
We recommend to enjoy the hot springs first and then eat afterwards.
Are there lockers at the hot springs?
Yes, there are and it's included in the rate. They normally ask for a deposit for the towels and lockers which will be returned to you when you return the key and towels. Towels are also included.
What shoes do I need?
For the hanging bridges walk, you need to have comfortable closed shoes like walking shoes, running shoes, etc. No flip flops, sandals or open shoes are allowed.
For the hot springs, we recommend to bring a pair of water shoes or sandals in your backpack to wear at the hot springs.
Will we see any wildlife?
Yes. The Arenal Hanging Bridges park is a great place for wildlife watching. Animals you may see during the walk are iguanas, lizards, monkeys, snakes, frogs and various birds.
