During this Arenal 4 in 1 combo tour, you'll experience a full day of adventure, wildlife and nature. First, you'll walk for 2.5 hour through the rainforest canopy, crossing a network of 10 static bridges and 6 hanging bridges, all with stunning views of rainforest and a few with views of Arenal Volcano.
Your knowledgeable guide will share the secrets of the rainforest and show you any animals and interesting plants they see along the way.
After the first rainforest walk, you visit the second stop: La Fortuna waterfall. You will need to walk down 500+ steps to the waterfall pool where you can refresh yourself in the cool waters, or admire the beautiful scenery from the riverbanks or the observation platform.
By now you must be hungry as then you'll be taken to a private restaurant owned by the tour operator to refill yourself with a delicious traditional lunch, complete with natural fruit juice and coffee.
The third activity is a hike around Arenal Volcano, through solidified lava fields and lava rocks. On this 2 hour walk, you'll learn about the 1968 eruption and the importance of Arenal Volcano for the locals. You'll hike up to a view point to see Arenal Volcano close up and Lake Arenal.
Lastly, you will end the day at the hot springs resort of your choice and enjoy a hearty dinner at the resort.

How much walking is there?
This is a full day tour with three activities that include walking.
The hanging bridges walk and volcano hike are both around 3 kilometers, so it will be around 6 kilometers total (3.7 miles).
The La Fortuna Waterfall has about 550 steps down which you must also walk back up.
You must be in moderate shape to walk around 7 km or 4 miles total in one day. The pace is slow, as your guide will be stopping during all the walks to look for animals, share information about the plants and stay at the view points.
Can I swim in La Fortuna Waterfall?
Yes. If the conditions are suitable you'll be able to swim in the waterfall pool. The La Fortuna Waterfall park staff will inform the tour guide is conditions are suitable for swimming. The tour guide does not decide whether swimming is allowed or not so please follow the rules in case weather conditions do not allow for safe swimming.
Towels are included by the tour operator in case you decide to go into La Fortuna waterfall and the park has bathrooms and changing rooms.
What shoes should I wear?
For the volcano hike and hanging bridges hike, you should have sturdy, comfortable and closed shoes like running shoes, walking shoes, trail running shoes, etc. We do not recommend sandals at all, even open toed adventure sandals.
For La Fortuna waterfall, you can bring watershoes if you want to swim.
For the hot springs, we recommend to bring a pair of flip flops or sandals to walk around the resort in.
What wildlife can we see?
At the hanging bridges park, it is possible to see animals like toucans, owls, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, snakes and iguanas.
At La Fortuna waterfall, you may see birds or butterflies.
At the volcano hike, there isn't a ton of wildlife as you will be visiting the remnants of the lava flow, but you may see snakes or birds.
What is the itinerary? Do we get to choose?
The typical itinerary is hanging bridges first, then La Fortuna waterfall, lunch, volcano hike and then hot springs. Your guide will inform you of the schedule for the day when you get picked up.
How long can I stay in the hot springs?
This is up to you, you are allowed around 3 hours at the hot springs resorts. You have to let your guide know what time you would like to get picked up to be taken back to your hotel. Most people stay the full time.
We recommend to enjoy the hot springs first and then have dinner.
Do we have the same guide for the whole day?
Yes. You will be in the same shuttle with the same guide and driver for the day.
How far apart are the places?
La Fortuna downtown to the hanging bridges park is around 30 minutes.
The hanging bridges park to La Fortuna waterfall is around 45 minutes.
La Fortuna waterfall to lunch is around 15 minutes and you have around 1-1.5 hours for lunch.
Lunch to the volcano hike is around 25 minutes.
Volcano hike to hot springs is around 15 minutes.
What time do we get to the hot springs?
Around 530 - 6 PM.
