We just got back from CR and rented a car from Adobe in Liberia and returned it to San Jose airport. Picking up the car…..exit the airport and find an adobe shuttle van right outside. Takes you to their rental office a few minutes away. We were talked into the “full coverage” insurance which added $20 / day as we rented a AWD Suzuki car/mid size SUV as we were headed to Monteverde (AWD strongly recommended if you are driving to adventure tours up in the mountains or your BNB is not right in town). This was the most expensive part of our 10 day vacation – $1700 Canadian. Plus they put $1000 USD “hold” your card for traffic tickets etc. In the end the vehicle served us well and we had no issues. Returning the car in SJ airport was very easy once you find the rental drop off. There was an attendant at 7:30am even though it said no one would be there before 8:30. There is supposed to be a $100 surcharge if your vehicle is excessively dirty but we cleaned it up as best we could. You have to pay $10 parking in the end since you take a parking ticket to drop the car off. This was very close to the departures terminal and super convenient. No shuttle at all. Good luck!

Hi. We are looking at renting a car for 2 to 4 days in Tamarindo in March for 6 people. Always happy with Adobe but always rent from SJO or Liberia. I notice the Adobe is about 1/2 hour away and hours are 8- 5. What are the options to get the car and drop it off? Do they deliver and also pick up? Is there a fee.

Hi Kevin, they do have an office near Tamarindo but it’s about 15 minutes outside in Huacas, so they can deliver your car to your hotel for free in Tamarindo. Just choose the Tamarindo office, and then for the pick up place, write in the name of your hotel and select the time you’d like the car delivered (9 AM to 430 PM). Then for the return, Adobe can pick up your car from your hotel in Tamarindo for free too, in the comment section please write your hotel and time you’d like Adobe to pick up the car (9 AM to 430 PM).

Can you rent a car from Adobe in La Fortuna and return it to SJO airport?

Hi Jamie, it is possible, however there will be an extra charge due to the different pick up and return offices. If you’d like to do this, on our Costa Rica car rental discount booking page, you will need to select “Ciudad Quesada” as the pick up office because thats the closest one to La Fortuna and in the comment section, please write the name of your hotel you’re staying at where you’d like the car delivered and the time (hours of this free service is from 830 AM to 430 PM.
