Description
On this day tour, you will visit Costa Rica's tallest volcano, Irazu Volcano. Irazu Volcano National Park was created specifically to protect the Irazu Volcano and its craters. The volcano is currently active, although it has not had a major eruption since 1994.
Your first stop will be at the national park, to walk a short path to the first crater and then the second crater lake. Depending on conditions, the crater lakes may or may not have water, but either way, it is extremely impressive to see!
After the national park, you'll head down the mountain to stop at the city of Cartago, to see the Virgin of the Angels Basilica, the most significant Basilica in Costa Rica, home to the yearly pilgrimage. You'll step inside this historical Basilica for a photo stop.
Lastly, you'll end the day at Hacienda Orosi Hot Springs, a magical thermal hot spring resort with seven pools of varying temperatures, made up of natural mineral waters. You'll also have lunch at Hacienda Orosi, while admiring its magnificent views of the Orosi Valley.
