Frequently Asked Questions
How long can I stay at Hot Springs Pura Vida with the day pass?
As long as you like! Hot Springs Pura Vida is open from 10 AM to 9 PM every day and you may come and go as many times as you like throughout the day. You must keep your bracelet on and the day pass is only good for one day.
It starts getting dark at 6 PM, so you can go during the day to see the resort in the light and come back later at night if you wish.
How hot is the river?
The river is not boiling hot, it is naturally warm. We enjoyed the river for at least 2 hours, without overheating.
Can I get food there?
Yes, there is a cafeteria by the pool which serves snacks and meals like traditional Costa Rican food, pasta and sandwiches, and they also serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Please note cash is not accepted. You must have a credit/debit card at Hot Springs Pura Vida.
Is the river the same one as the free hot spring? What is the difference?
Yes. The river inside Hot Springs Pura Vida is the exact same river as the free hot spring on the other side of the road.
Is there a fee for the lockers?
No, lockers and towels are included in the day pass. They will give you a bracelet for the key. There will be a fee if you do not return the key and/or towel.
Can I bring my phone to the river?
Yes, but we recommend putting it in a waterproof phone pouch or dry bag, as it can get wet.
Is it safe at night to go to the river?
Yes, they have a maintained dirt trail and there are lights hung up on the path and along the river.
Do I need to walk a lot?
No. You do need to walk from the parking lot down to the facilities, about a 5 minute walk on a paved road. Then from the lockers, it is a 1-2 min easy walk on a dirt trail to the river.
You do need to be careful when walking in the river, so we recommend water shoes instead of going barefoot as you may step on rocks, pebbles, and branches.
