During this tour, you'll explore mangroves, one of the most unique and important ecosystems in the world and learn about its vital role in the preservation of endemic wildlife, along with many other species that find shelter in this natural sanctuary.
As you cruise 2 hours through the mangroves and brackish water in a covered motorized river boat, your expert naturalist guide will help you spot fascinating wildlife such as monkeys, bats, iguanas, herons, kingfishers and caimans in the mangrove trees and along the riverbanks. They will also share with you facts about why mangroves are so important and why it is necessary to protect them.
The tour schedule is planned according to the ocean tide and the tour includes a meal, which will be breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on the itinerary.

What is the boat like?
The boat is a river boat with a motor and roof with open sides. It has plastic seats and a back. Life
jackets are provided for each guest.
The boat holds approximately 15 guests.
Why can't you say what the pick up time is?
The pick up time for the Damas Island mangrove boat tour depends on the tide for that day. This is because the tour can only run in the high tide, it cannot run in the low tide as there isn't enough water.
If your tour is a couple months out, we can give you an approximate pick up time so you can know if the tour will run in the morning or afternoon. Once your tour date gets closer, we will let you know the exact pick up time from your hotel.
Are there any rapids?
No. The waters are calm and you are in a motorized river boat so you don't need to worry about paddling.
Is there any swimming involved?
No. You will not be getting in the water at all.
How long is the drive to the mangroves from Manuel Antonio?
It is approximately a 20 minute drive, give or take, depending on your hotel location.
Where is the meal and when?
We will inform you which meal you will be having as it depends on the itinerary. If you have an afternoon tour, you will have lunch or dinner. Morning tours will have breakfast or lunch.
The meal will be at the tour operator's office in Quepos.
