I’ve always loved looking at pictures of the sky, whether it is sunsets, sunrises, a beautiful clear sunny day, or even a beautiful rainy day.
In Costa Rica, a country being so close to the equator, the sun rises and sets about the same time every day: 530 AM and 530PM. Depending on what part of the country you are in, you can see some pretty amazing sunrises and sunsets.
I’m not a huge early riser, but since moving here my internal alarm clock wakes me up by 6 every morning, just one of the things I had to get used to.
Before, I used to be able to sleep until noon! (I blame the cold weather). Waking up at 9 was hard work for me! But the sun is so bright here, who wants to miss any part of it?

In Playas del Coco there are some pretty magnificent sunsets. Depending on where you are, at the beach or in the mountains, you can see the the colors of the rainbow just in one sunset.
The best part is that no day is the same. Everyday is different and it really makes you feel blessed to witness such a beautiful event of nature. Here are some of my favorite sunsets in Playas del Coco, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
And this is just a sampling. Google “sunsets in Costa Rica” and you’ll see all the variations of color, brightness, and tone of the skies in this country. Looking at these sunsets, sitting underneath all of it’s glory, makes you feel so incredibly grateful and appreciative of the privilege to experience these moments.
A sunset may seem such a simple thing, a daily occurrence with little meaning. But to me, seeing how fast and simple the sky can change in a second and how different it is everyday, makes me realize how fast and simple life changes too.
I never thought life would lead me here, that my path would make this turn but I am so incredibly happy it has. Each day that passes, each time the sun rises and sets, is another day I am grateful.
They have this saying in Costa Rica that I am sure everybody has heard of. Pura Vida, which means pure life. After seeing how tranquil and how paradisaical life and nature is here, I truly understand why that is the saying of the country. It is all one hopes to obtain in life. Pura Vida
